‘Birther’ bill passed by Arizona Senate

The veto was the right decision. It's a wingnut bill that only serves to make Arizona Republicans look bad. Rachel Maddow has had a lot of fun with this on her show the last week.

That said, I still don't see where it would conflict with federal law, if it had been signed.

I would think that this bill would violate the first two sections of Article 4 of the Constitution. Arizona would lack the constituional authority to override Hawaii's official recognition of Obama being born in Hawaii. Arizona is required to accept the full faith and credit of Hawaii's representation in this matter.
