Former Sen. Coats to Challenge Sen. Bayh
By BRIAN A. HOWEY

INDIANAPOLIS - Informed and reliable sources are telling Howey Politics Indiana that former U.S. Sen. Dan Coats will announce Wednesday he will challenge U.S. Sen. Evan Bayh.

The source, former aide Curt Smith of the Indiana Family Institute, said that Coats knows he has about two weeks to gather the 4,500 signatures - 500 per Congressional district - in two weeks.

Coats was up for re-election in 1998 when he decided to retire, citing the pressures of constant fundraising. Bayh went on that year to defeat former Fort Wayne Mayor Paul Helmke to reclaim his father's Senate seat.

Coats was almost named President George W. Bush's Defense Secretary instead of Donald Rumsfeld, and later was named ambassador to Germany.

Coats would join the Republican field that includes State Sen. Marlin Stutzman, plumber Richard Behney, former Congressman John Hostettler and Winchester financier Don. Bates Jr,

Coats entered Congress by winning Dan Coats House seat in 1980, then was appointed by Gov. Robert D. Orr to fill Quayle's Senate seat when he ascended to the vice presidency n 1989.

Developing ....
This is the kind of thing that I think, frankly, separates the men from the boys in leadership. Do you have the testicular virility to make a decision like that, knowing what's coming your way.

This is big.

Big.

Real Big!
I once had a thread in 2004 titled "The Jews have become animals" referencing the indiscriminate bulldozing of Palestinian zoo, animals, blocks of homes with people living inside, cars, etc.
In Gaza, Bodies, Rubble and a Lost Zoo
The day the tanks arrived at Rafah zoo Among ruined houses, a haven for Gaza's children lies in rubble
An anonymous letter was written by a political miscreant to discredit Greg and Sophia Travis and to mess up her polictical ambitions.
I was ridiculed and labeled a hateful anti-semite, a whore, a hag, a witch and on and on. In 2010, the hate goes on against me. Placing this here to save them the trouble.

Dick the Plumber is real big. He's a teabagger.

Why do Republicans hate regular working people?
.
The disposition to admire, and almost to worship, the rich and powerful,
and to despise or at least neglect persons of poor and mean conditions...
is the great and most universal cause of the corruption of our moral sentiments.

chucktodd Coats v Bayh is a delayed matchup from '98. Coats chose retirement rather than uphill battle against then-Gov. Bayh. Now Coats thinks he can

All due respect to Coats, but jumping in this late looks like political opportunism brought on by the Scott Brown win in Mass.

Plus, I don't think he has the name ID he did ten years ago. Pence jumping in would have been much bigger.
